Ninety percent of the game is half mental. – Yogi Berra |
There are several David Giovannonis in the world so take a moment to ensure this is the one you're looking for.
David Giovannoni grew up in central California and got into broadcasting at too young an age and stayed in it too long. According to the myths he is either the genius who saved public radio or the philistine who wrecked it; he emphatically notes that both characterizations suffer from serious inaccuracies.
He left broadcasting in 2005 to focus on historical sound recordings. He produces CDs and writes liner notes which, in the last three years, have been nominated for six Grammys and won one (for Lost Sounds — Best Historical Album, 2006). He is also a principal at First Sounds, a collaboration of experts dedicated to making the earliest sound recordings available to all people for all time. First Sounds gained international attention in 2008 when it identified mankind's first recordings of its own voice — made 17-20 years before Edison invented the phonograph — and played them back to an astonished world.
